Komunikasi Lintas/Antarbudaya (Cross Cultural Communication) tidak banyak yang tahu tentang konsentrasi ini selain mahasiswa Jurusan ilmu komunikasi, Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana).   Ya, memang di Kupang ada dua jurusan ilmu komunikasi, satunya di Undana dan lainnya di universitas Widya Mandira (Unwira). Untuk wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur, Ilmu komunikasi lebih banyak dikenal melalui konsentrasi Jurnalistik dan Hubungan Masyarakat, maka tidak mengherankan ketika mencari kerja anak KAB (sebutan untuk mahasiswa konsentrasi antarbudaya) sering ditanya-tanya tentang  konsentrasinya oleh para pencari tenaga kerja. Pernah saya ditanyai tentang konsentrasi antarbudaya, belum sempat saya jawab, sudah bergulir saja kalimat “ Oh… jadi nanti kalian belajar bahasa daerah dari berbagai daerah di NTT? ” atau “ Bahasa daerah apa yang sudah kalian kuasai? ”   (pertanyaan ke-2 itu yang paling menjengkelkan).  Alih-alih paham, justru konsentrasi Komunikasi Antarbudaya disalah artikan kajia

Tak Ada Makan Siang Gratis Dalam Mencapai Kemajuan Negara

  Sumber : Kemeperkraf Indonesia        Beberapa waktu yang lalu saya mengerjakan sebuah tugas ujian akhir semester, ada pertanyaan yang menarik tentang relasi konsep kepemimpinan otoriter dan kemajuan suatu negara. Diambilah contoh Singapura, Korea Selatan dan Taiwan sebagai negara pembanding untuk membuktikan kepemimpinan otoriter turut serta dalam kemajuan suatu negara. Di Indonesia, mungkin diambil contoh pada masa orde baru, di mana Indonesia seketika berubah dari negara miskin menjadi negara yang memiliki power di Asia bahkan dijuluki sebagai Macan Asia di bawah kepemimpinan otoriter.      Jika dilihat secara umum, memang ada benarnya karena perencanaan dan pengawasan yang lebih terpusat. Sistem otoriter membuat segala keputusan dapat diambil dengan cepat tanpa harus membuang waktu dan uang hanya untuk duduk berdiskusi di dalam parlemen. Jika dicari kesamaan dari Singapura, Korea Selatan dan Taiwan, mereka memang berubah menjadi negara maju terkhususnya dalam bidang ekonomi setel

Darurat Dialektika dan Drakor

Seorang teman menyarankan saya untuk menonton Video tanya jawab Rocky Gerung dengan anak-anak muda perihal dinamika politik yang dibalut atau dibenarkan melalui pertanyaan-pertanyaan di dunia teknologi yang bagi saya tidak terlalu menarik. Dari kalimat “Lu kan suka sejarah” membuat saya tertantang mengingat Rocky Gerung pernah menemui moment “diam” sejenak saat pernyataannya disanggah oleh Sujiwo Tejo mengenai kekayaan kosakata bahasa Indonesia. Sejarah... Apa yang saya temukan selain ide tentang masa depan Demokrasi Indonesia, kemanusiaan dan sebagainya dengan melalui sudut pandang Filsuf Yunani. “ Rocky Gerung : Alasan Kita Darurat Dialektika” Sebuah judul yang menghantarkan ingatan saya ketika masih berstatus mahasiswa, ada seorang dosen mata kuliah kewirausahaan yang tersinggung saat teman saya mempertanyakan materi kuliah yang tak sesuai dengan kenyataan yang dia temui ketika berdagang bersama orang tuanya.
